Folk Rock

member since: Jun 16, 2005

Based out of Oakville / Toronto, Ontario, we've been playing and writing together for the past couple years. A wide range of influences have led to the creation of our unique blend of alternative and folk, characterized by the vocal harmonies, acoustic guitars and violin. The vocal harmonies are only complimentary to the strong vocal melodies though, whether it's the powerful choruses of In Silence, or the wake - up - humming - it - the - next - morning verses in You Asked Me.

Our material has been well received by people in different age groups. Songs like April Showers and Cedars and Stars speak about growing pains and finding your place in the world, or rather, being unsure of it. Then songs like Nevermore and In Silence cover the territory of love and love lost. Live, Fishkiss draws its audience in with "creative lyrics which tell poignant stories" (CNC Music Productions, "Unsigned Artist Search"), powerful vocal melodies and harmonies, and creative instrumentation.

In February 2006, Cedars and Stars was judged a semi-finalist in the lyrics only category of the 2005 International Songwriting Competition (filed under 'Alex'), finishing as the only Canadian entry in the top 20 of the category out of thousands of submissions from all over the world.
